Enjoy local delicacies without too much guilt
Singapore has SO MUCH good food. Mouth-watering, tantalising local delicacies such as Fried Hokkien Mee, Roti Prata, Chicken Rice, Satay; the list can go on forever. Food in Singapore never fail to make a satisfying full meal but they also come packed with high amount of calories. Although we do not recommend you to run so that you can eat more, RUN, so you do not feel as guilty while eating!
Run to feel refreshed from work
Sometimes, sitting in the same position for too long can make you feel more tired than you really are. Instead of sitting at your desk and browsing through social media platforms, why not go outdoors for some fresh air? Go for a good jog and have a good stretch to loosen up your tense muscles from sitting in the office for too long. Just one running session can also increase energy and chip away your fatigue.
Stay healthy in a stressful city environment
Living in a densely-populated city exposes us to – stress, pollution, virus and diseases, which can make us fall sick easily. It is important to can a strong immune system to protect ourselves and reduce the risk of illnesses and cancer. Running can also give us a stronger heart, better cardiorespiratory fitness, which often leads to a longer lifespan
On the other hand, running triggers our brain to produce happy hormones endorphins, keeping us positive and mental illnesses at bay. Regular exercise can remodel the brain, making it calmer and more stress resistant.
Discover beautiful parks and gardens
Singapore is known to the world as a garden city, but most of us are only cooped up in the city aspect and sometimes forget to enjoy the garden part of Singapore. Being close to the nature allows time to slow down, letting us appreciate life and giving us the space to reflect and understand ourselves better. Furthermore, the air is also better for running than in the urban areas and can feel very refreshing. Run anytime (…haze permitting)
Last year 2015, we had a bad prolonged period of haze. We will never know exactly when the haze will hit us again, or how bad the haze may be the next time. So, enjoy the clear weather while we can and just run lah!
