Deano
I'm a 48 year old who never really ran even vaguely seriously before the start of this year (2018) - every time I took up running I gave up within a few weeks. But some colleagues suggested a group of us should enter the NTUC Income Eco Run (21.1km) and in a spur of the moment act of impetuous machismo I agreed.
With an actual sense of purpose, a great personal trainer who gave me lots of helpful tips, a running watch to gauge my improvements, and a desire not to be too embarrassed on the day, I finished with a rather respectable time of 2h 6m 36s.
So, it turns out I can run but worse than that, I'm now sufficiently hooked that my running shoes follow me on business trips and vacations! In fact, I once had four hours to spare at JFK before a connecting flight - I checked into a cheap and nasty airport hotel, changed into my running gear, took an Uber to Central Park and had a lovely run before my flight home.
I'm signed up for the 2XU SG Run on 6 October and (not sure if I should say this on a public forum) I'm aiming to finish in under 2 hours. Watch this space as I prepare for, and hopefully meet, this target.
