Pacers was running not as per pace and they are not encouraging runners for some pace groups. About 17 pacers did not finish on time per their pace groups. Is this what pacing is all about ? The pacers are not selected based on their capabilities during the selection but the selection is based on relationship.
They failed their mission in SDM 2014. The organizer should consider other pacers group who have pace well in future.
Failing their mission have a lot to lost for the organizer as runners may likely be selection with races in future.
Even I am a slow runner. I was the 5:30 Pacer ahead of me..I quickly speed up to get my PB. After overtake and reach the finishing line, it’s 5:58
That’s weird.
I meant I Saw.
Hydration points. More like the lack thereof!
Volunteers saying, no more water. Want water, jump into the waters of the barrage!
Well done! The standard for you.
The Good : Volunteers (especially in East Coast Park), the showers in the race village, hydration (the lovely cold 100 Plus was awesome) and the general Race Village ‘vibe’.
The Bad : 42k route was horrible, the un lit sections and narrow paths are very poor for a ‘big city’ marathon. The stinky smells from barbeques in East Coast Park at 2am, Sheares Bridge (ouch), dodgy KM’s at the end? (I am sure it’s more than 2.5k from MBS to Pit Lane the route we took).
Overall : I enjoyed the experience, but I wont be back for this one. I hope SCM has a better route along wider paths.
it’s sad that both Singapore’s major marathons (Sundown and SCSM) lack organization…
