The race
No, you won’t actually climb to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro in this annual marathon. Save that for another day! But the world’s highest freestanding mountain will tower over the race’s 6,500 runners, including many locals. The weather’s hot and the halfway point’s slope can be hard, but the beauty of “Kill,” its lush, green surroundings and the energy of local villagers help racers coast into the downhill finish.
