The race
The Marathon is one of the major annual events organised by the Hong Kong Amateur Athletic Association and has been awarded the Silver Label Road Race by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon has the largest number of participants in Hong Kong major sports events. There were 1,000 participants in the first Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon in 1997. In Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2014, there were 73,000 participants, surpassing the past record. The Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon is not only a way to put your physical fitness to the test, it is also a unique way to see the sights of the fantastic city of Hong Kong. Runners from over thirty countries competed in this year's race, making it the most popular Hong Kong Marathon to date.
