I felt that the race could be better. Just wondering why there isn’t some form of barricades to prevent pedestrians from blocking the runners lane. I collided into someone who suddenly dash out. This could be omitted if they had enough marshals or barricades.
If Sundown or Standchart is able to request for road closures, I am sure barricades shouldn’t be scrimped and saved. I trust that the price that was paid for should suffice the basic needs of a race to have a clear path. If not, what is the difference in running around our neighbourhood ?
Also, there is a lack of marshals/ lightings as the last runner. We are unable to see our routes and that causes some confusion if we should proceed further. With so many pedestrians walking around, we are also unable to just follow the runners in front as there is insufficient lighting to determine if the person in front is actually taking part in the Mizuno Ekiden.
Quite disappointed overall despite it being my first experience for Ekiden. I would advise others not to join as the fees of entry is not justifiable for the standards that one would expect.
